Dog Naming Contest - Win a Duck Call from DOA Game Calls!

dog-front-tan-bd03Up for grabs for the lucky winner is a wicked mallard duck call from DOA Game Calls. There is also an early entry bonus prize in the pot for the first 25 Refuge Rats that make a hunting dog name submission.

DOA Game Calls

Why DOA Game Calls you ask? Kevin Herbst and the crew at DOA have a long history of duck and goose hunting on public refuges and other lands. They are Refuge Rats indeed. If you are in the market for a new call, and hunt public lands or refuges, make sure and check out DOA Game Calls.

Name the Hunting Dog

As for the contest, you may have seen an illustration of a new hunting dog character floating around recently as we have been soliciting name ideas. This illustration is the first of several new charming public land duck and goose hunting characters you will see associated with the company.

We have received some good input so far, but have decided to up the ante and turn this quest into a formal hunting dog naming contest. Anything goes and we are looking for a solid dog name moving forward.

Contest Prizes

There are two prizes up for grabs. The first is a $25 gift certificate from Cabela's, and the winner will be drawn from the first 25 Refuge Rats that make a hunting dog name suggestion. The second prize, and ultimate winner will receive a killer mallard call from DOA Game Calls.

Contest Details

Though general comments can be made here, official hunting dog name suggestion entries should be made in the contests section in RatSkills.     RatSkills...

As you can see, this hunting dog has strong public refuge duck and goose hunting instincts, and comes from a family line of champion and field proven hunters. So put on your thinking caps and start suggesting dog names.

You have until November 15, 2011 - 11:59 PM, PST to enter. Date subject to change. Void where prohibited.

Good luck to all the Rats!

Dog naming contest
A lot of dogs are named drake, hunter, and other common names like that. I would go with Dakota, for the simple reason that it is a strong name, not used a lot, and that the name couldn't get confused with sounding like a command. Also the dakotas are known for waterfowl.

Hunting Dog Naming Contest Winner
Hey Rats,

After careful consideration, we have selected the grand prize winner of the Hunting Dog Naming Contest. There were a lot of great entries, and in the true spirit of a Rat, there was some outstanding creativity which we all know is often needed to successfully hunt public lands and refuges. We appreciate everyone's efforts.

Given that, one name stood above for several reasons, including the historical significance related to today's refuge system.

The winning entry was submitted by Quack_Kills with his recommendation of "Ding" which we also feel has a good ring to it, as in Ding the RatDog.

Again, thanks for everyone's participation, and we are sure Quack_Kills will enjoy his mallard call from DOA Game Calls. Quack_Kills has seven days from today to email us to make arrangements to collect his call.

Look for more contests and giveaways in the future, some of which are currently underway.
